How to Get Involved

Score 1 for Health provides free, in-school screenings, preventative health education and resources for treatment. We focus on reaching children in the areas of greatest need, including urban-core, underprivileged and low income families. There are many ways you can get involved, whether you are a parent, school administrator, healthcare professional, or an individual or business that wants to make a positive impact on the health of our Kansas City kids.

VOLUNTEERS: The Heart of Score 1: You

Score 1 for Health volunteers directly impact the success of our program. Our volunteers include community members, KCUMB medical students, and university/college students from more than 20 allied health schools. If you are a health professional or university/college student, please click here to learn more about your role in our program.

Typically, Score 1 volunteers either help us prepare for screenings or participate at local schools on health screening days. Click here to see maps and directions to schools in your area. After receiving training, each volunteer is assigned a position at one of the six health screening stations. These health screenings may identify potential problems for many kids who don't have an opportunity for a regular health exam.
